Crusher Concave: Second Machining Pass

0:33 clip · shop-floor footage · Huamin Tools

The second pass on a crusher concave is a different cut from the first. The skin is gone, the surface is more uniform, and the insert can work at a steadier load.

What the clip shows

  • Second pass after the casting skin is removed
  • More continuous contact than the first cut
  • Longer clip, so wear across the pass is visible

Why this insert suits the cut

Once the skin is off, the failure mode changes from impact to wear. That is the point where a grade chosen for toughness on the first pass may not be the best choice for the second.

Where this part is used

Crusher wear parts are machined in small batches between outages. Getting two passes out of one setup is the difference between a planned job and a rushed one.

What to send with an inquiry

  • Whether the skin is removed in a separate operation
  • Hardness after skin removal
  • Insert changes needed between passes

Send the drawing, material and current tool problem. We will recommend an insert direction for the operation.
